Sleigh Rides
When the snow falls in Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado a winter wonderland is the end result. And although skiing and snowboarding are the main attractions for people visiting the area, taking a ride in a horse drawn sleigh is a great and unique way to experience the area while enjoying clean, crisp mountain air. Used as a means of primary transportation in the early days, sleighs drawn by strong and beautiful Belgian draft horses is a romantic way to spend a portion of an evening for couples and is fun for the whole family too.
Most of the sleigh rides start in the late afternoon and go throughout the night until around 8 p.m. Share a memorable experience viewing majestic Vail Mountain which features breathtaking vistas of the snow-capped Gore Range while being pulled along by an old fashion sleigh. Complete with blankets to keep you warm, one of the best times to take a ride is during a full moon when the entire landscape is lit up under a star filled sky. Most of the sleigh ride companies that offer 30-minute evening tours also include a full course dinner at the conclusion of the ride. What better way to spend a relaxing winter night outdoors listening to the ringing of sleigh bells while gliding in a sleigh with friends and family.
