Ski Bikes
Yeah, skiing and snowboarding are the main attractions during the winter months in Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado, but if you're looking to have just as much fun and try a new method of travel down snowy slopes skibiking might be for you. Invented in the mid-1800s in the European Alps as a means of every day transportation during the winter and introduced publicly in the United States in the 1950s, ski bikes have gained more popularity at dozens of ski resorts over the last few years - including Vail. It's not that hard to learn either, in fact it's just like riding a regular bike.
At Vail, there are many areas that are set up for ski bikes, which are basically mini-bikes with mini-skis attached, like terrain parks and separate courses. Just like ski lessons, there are generally ski bike lessons given every day at Vail during the winter. Granted skibiking is easy to pick up, but there are some basic skills that are necessary to learn before sliding down the slopes. So, if you're looking to ride the resort in new fashion, hop on a ski bike.
