Vail Resorts Inc. actually owns and operates four ski mountains including Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and of course, Vail. With so many ski runs and activities to choose from, you and your family will never be without an adventure.

Vail offers world class skiing on over 5,000 skiable acres with a vertical rise of 3,450 feet. With 34 lifts, 4 terrain parks, and a variety of runs from expert chutes to beginner slopes, everyone from the first-timers to the old-schoolers will find pleasure as well as challenge. For those who are just beginning, each of Vail's mountains offer excellent ski schools. You can choose from group or private lessons for both kids and adults. Classes are offered for snowboarding as well as skiing.
If you are taking a day off from the slopes, Vail offers a variety of exciting winter activities such as ice skating, snowshoeing, tubing, and ski biking. Access to the ice rink is free if you bring your own skates, otherwise, you'll be charged a small rental fee. Guided snowshoe trips are offered by the Nature Discovery Center. A narrating guide will lead you to the top of Vail Mountain and you'll learn about the unique wild nature that makes up Vail, Colorado. The snowshoe trips are recommended for adults and children over 12 years old. If you are looking for adventure or a challenge, try ski biking, a cross between skiing and biking. Ski biking is offered in the evening and is recommended for intermediate and expert skiers only. If your ski skills are not adequate for ski biking, you can still find a rush with tubing.
In addition to the various activities offered at the resort, there are a spectrum of adventures to be had just outside of Vail. Your family will enjoy dog sledding, horseback riding, and backcountry hut trips, all led by expert guides. Many of these activities fill up early, so it is best to make reservations well in advance.
