Overview
Although the area around Vail, Colorado is known mainly for its unspoiled wilderness terrain, top notch fly fishing and world-class skiing, the sport of tennis is also a popular activity in the area during the sunny summer months.
Where to Play Tennis
Surprisingly enough, the tennis courts and facilities in the area are some of the better playing surfaces available in most of the mountain towns in the state. Nonetheless, you don't have to be Andre Agassi or Lindsay Davenport to enjoy knocking the yellow ball around on the tennis courts here.
Vail Tennis Center
This Vail tennis facility is open from dawn to dusk from Memorial Day weekend to the 30th of September. Find eight clay courts and four hard courts. Spectacular scenery adds to the pleasure. A full-service pro shop offers private lessons and clinics.
Beaver Creek Tennis Center
Players of all levels will enjoy these five clay courts and two hard courts. Open to the public from 18 June to 3 October, this tennis center has daily clinics. Hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.
Vail Racquet Club
Whether you want to play in spring, summer or fall, the Vail Racquet Club has ten outdoor courts in a wonderful setting in Vail Valley. Besides playing exciting games of tennis, you can also take lessons, engage in drills, camps and clinics.
Rentals & Fees
Rental equipment will always be found at the tennis center of your choice. Court fees range from around $15 to $25 an hour. Private instruction fees vary, but for private lessons average around $65 an hour per person or $85 an hour for two.
