Hot Air Ballooning
Imagine floating thousands of feet in the air above Beaver Creek and Vail, Colorado in a hot air balloon enjoying the area from a bird's eye view. Hands down, it's the easiest way to view the entire area without traveling in the car for numerous hours or sweating profusely to reach your chosen spot. Though not as popular as in Aspen, where the wider valley offers expansive views and meandering flights, hot-air ballooning is still an exciting way to see Vail from a fun and unusual vantage point.
Because the wind is such a factor when it comes to taking to the air in a hot air balloon, the best times to fly are in the early morning when the winds are typically weak and mild. Basically, all you need to bring on these thrilling rides through the air is sun block, a camera and your lack of fear of heights. The best times to take a ride are June-September. Prices run approximately $150 for a half-hour to hour-long ride. When in downtown Vail, stop in at the visitors center for more information.
