Posted: March 13th, 2010
- Jim Cathcart
As we've explored some concepts that drive success we included the importance of self-belief and confidence, showing up ready to get into the game of life and taking action today. Now let's talk about relationships.
Think about the types of relationships there are in life. There are romantic relationship, friendships, husbands and wives, employerrs and employees and many other potential combinations. Do we ever really take the time to consider our role in all of the relationships in our own life?
In pursuing success, we must take the lead in assuring that the people who count on us are receiving the benefits of everything we have to give. If we put everything else ahead of the relationships, can we really claim success? If we achieved extreme wealth but lost our families or health in the process is that success?

Four-time Olympian is in Vail this week to plan camp

The Vail Local Marketing District and its advisory board want to put more people in hotel rooms during the shoulder seasons, and Holden already has a business, www.mindful
warrior.com, that focuses on helping athletes improve weaknesses both on and off the field. Her business is right in line with one of the advisory board's ideas to bring in Olympic athletes to teach camps and workshops in Vail.
Holden announced last week that four-time Olympian Jenny Potter, a member of the U.S. Women's Ice Hockey Team, will be teaching a hockey camp for mothers and daughters in Vail in August. It's the first camp of its kind sponsored by the Marketing District, and Holden has high hopes for what will come out of it.
"This is my go-to place for healing and fitness," Holden said Friday. "I feel like
Vail Valley preps wrap for Saturday

The senior is coming off an "off year" with 16 goals and 10 assists last season. It's worth acknowledging that most people would consider that a career year.
Seibert had her second hat trick in as many games and Maddie LyBarger added one ads Battle Mountain soccer doubled up Delta, 4-2 Saturday on the road. Technically, Seibert's goals per game dropped by 25 percent - she had four against Summit earlier in the week - but we're pretty sure she won't be running laps in practice for that.
"Delta's always a bit awkward," Huskies coach David Cope said. "It's a bumpy field and it's narrow and it's a long trip. We don't always play well at Delta, but we get a result."
And this is important for the Huskies. The Slope no longer has divisions, and while everybody's pretty much playing every other team twice, the first meeting between two

Cal Thomas: Should be quite a Supreme Court case
Posted: March 13th, 2010
The case was brought by a Maryland man whose son's 2006 funeral was picketed by members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.
Members of the "church" consist of "pastor" Fred W. Phelps Sr., and his family who preach a false doctrine that basically claims American soldiers are dying in combat because of this country's increasingly tolerant attitude toward homosexuals. "Semper Fi F---" and "Thank God for dead soldiers" are two of the more outrageous signs displayed by members of the Westboro church at services for some of our war dead.
I put "pastor" and "church" in quotations on purpose. Others -- one thinks especially of "pastors" who preached segregation and barred blacks from their "churches" at one time -- have caused ridicule to be
Vail Daily letter: Committed to Minturn
Posted: March 13th, 2010
I am 100 percent invested in Minturn's future.
I own a business in Minturn.
I own a home in Minturn.
My wife and I are raising two young children in Minturn.
I want to improve Minturn for my family and yours.
I want to treat people fairly and with respect.
I want to lower our taxes/mill levy for homeowners. I want more businesses in Minturn, but at the same time we cannot wait 10 years for increased revenue from those businesses and you will have to pay higher property tax increases to improve our town, or we can improve Minturn immediately with a billionaire developers' money.
It is your choice, Minturn. Take the billionaire's money or you, the Minturn citizen, will pay higher taxes. Do not forget that he promised us millions of dollars, so let's hold him accountable and use that money today to improve Minturn, create jobs, keep our taxes lower an
