Running directly through Vail, Core Creek is one of the most prestigious and beautiful fly fishing venues in the state of Colorado. Core Creek runs along Interstate 70 along the frontage roads in Vail. Don't worry about the noise of the traffic imposing on the mood of fishing, as once you are down in the creek, the traffic noise is no longer noticeable over the rustling and bubbling of the stream.
It's a good idea to bring your waders if you want to go fishing for trout in Core Creek. Core Creek is a typical mountain creek in that it is rocky and narrow. It is lined for most of its banks with trees and brush. Although a little hard to get too, it can be accessed through some public parks and access points. Expect company if you are fishing on Gore Creek. Due to its proximity to Vail – being right in town – you will be seen by mountain bikers, dogs, kids in strollers and people in vehicles.
If you need a quick get away from driving along Interstate 70 or if Vail is crowding you in, drop in at Gore Creek – just minutes away – and enjoy the ambience of a little fly fishing in the pristine waters.
