Vail Hillclimb Race
One of the best mountain running races in Colorado, is the Vail Hill Climb. This event typically draws at least 400 runners of all abilities. The eight mile course is breathtaking and the course climbs from 8,200 feet at the beginning of the race to an altitude of 10,350 feet at the finish line. The Vail Hill Climb is sponsored by Teva and Teva footwear is one of the many prizes awarded. The Vail Hill Climb begins in the morning near the Vail Village Parking Structure. If climbing up the course is more than you want to attempt, there are free gondola rides up and down the mountain for spectators and racers. You can pre-register for the race or register on the day of the race before the start time. This race is a lot of fun and a major challenge due to the change in elevation. Come and compete or enjoy being a spectator.
