Winter in the Rockies will never be the same as professional and amateur athletes converge on the mountains and villages of Vail for a celebration of adventure sports, music, art and the great outdoors.
The first annual Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer features competitions in mixed climbing, mountain, Big Air, and dual slalom biking, Nordic and telemark skiing, ski mountaineering and snowshoe racing with $60,000 in prize money on the line, along with a one-day vertical challenge in Vail's legendary Back Bowls.
The winter festival in Vail comes to life with free concerts, films, photo comp an interactive expo area, demo events and of course - dogs. The Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer are a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
- The race is open to both recreational and licensed road cyclists, with winners crowned in age group racing categories.
- The original course was designed and time trials set in the 80's. The record time was broken in 2008.

Overview:The Teva Mountain Games are the nation’s largest celebration of mountain sport, lifestyle and music featuring top professional and amateur athletes from around the world. The environmentally-friendly adventure sporting event hosts approximately 3,000 outdoor athletes, along with an estimated 40,000 spectators.
Athletes converge on Vail’s mountains and rivers to compete in eight sports and 24 disciplines for over $100,000 in prize money. Events include kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, road cycling, World Cup Bouldering, amateur climbing, fly-fishing, stand up paddling, trail running and a half marathon.
