Snowshoe Shuffle
The Snowshoe Shuffle in Vail, Colorado began in 1994, but today it is recognized as one of the largest snowshoe races in the country. Three-fourths of all of the participants run in honor of someone who has suffered from cancer, survived cancer, or lost their life to cancer. Five percent of the race participants are themselves cancer survivors. The annual event raises fund for cancer prevention, education and early detection programs. All of the proceeds from the event are directed toward medical initiatives for the purpose of patient services, education, and particular other projects. In addition to the actual race, the organizing committee sponsors a dinner which is held the night before the race. The dinner is a help-yourself buffet and includes music and prize giveaways. This is wonderful worth while event, so plan ahead and purchase your tickets for the dinner. There you can fuel up for the race the next day.
