Where is Vail, Colorado?
North America's biggest and most popular ski resort, Vail is an alpine village in the heart of the Rocky Mountains located just 97 miles west of Denver, Colorado.
What are the closest cities?
Running east to west through the middle of Vail is Interstate 70. Vail can be reached by car by traveling west from Denver on Interstate 70, a distance of 97 miles. West of Vail, along this corridor you will find Avon, Eagle, and Grand Junction, Colorado
Salt Lake City, UT is found 430 miles to the northwest of Vail.

Fun Facts:
- The town came after the ski resort. The town of Vail was incorporated in 1966, four years after the opening of Vail Ski Resort.
- Vail Ski Resort was founded by Pete Seibert and a local rancher, Earl Eaton in 1962. Pete Siebert was a New England native who served in the Army in WWII. He was seriously wounded in Italy and part of his rehabilitation was skiing.
