Gore Range Natural Science School

The Gore Range Natural Science School was set up for the purpose of environmental education. Each year it helps more than 12,000 people in Eagle County, Colorado to learn more about important issues in the natural world.

The Gore Range Natural Science School accomplishes its initiatives by offering several innovative school programs, including summer youth science camps, adult seminars, and interpretive programs that operate year round.

Kim Langmaid, a lifetime resident of the area, started the school in 1998 in order to create an organization that provides an approach to teaching science that is relevant to what is happening in the world today. She wanted to educate students about the natural world and how it works.

Since it was created, the school has taken on the task of being a community leader in the region with respect to growing healthy communities that don't disturb the environment. Their education programs targeting local citizens have helped countless people make informed decisions about the natural world that surrounds them and the environmental impact their actions have on the area.
