Attractions
Colorado's Vail has attractions in abundance. But clearly the largest attraction in the Vail Valley during the winter or summer is Vail Mountain. Vail is one of America's most popular and prestigious ski resorts. There are activities and tours taking place year-round on the mountain. You can also enjoy dinners at world-class restaurants, and winter events such as tubing, ski biking and laser tag at the top of the gondola, all with an amazing view from the top of Vail Mountain.
Needless to say, there's something here for everyone!
Compared to most other Colorado ski towns, Vail, 122 miles west of
Denver off I-70, is a new creation. Only a handful of farmers lived
here before the resort – a collection of fake Tyrolean-style chalets
and concrete-block condominiums – opened in 1952. During the Ford
administration, it served as the western White House. Indeed, President
Gerald Ford and his wife still live here, hosting annual celebrity golf
and skiing competitions.
One spot in particular is a must-see spots for visitors: the Colorado
Ski Museum and Ski Hall of Fame, which was established in 1976. The
mission of the Museum is to preserve and appreciate the legacy of
skiing and snowboarding in Colorado. The museum is a private,
non-profit organization funded primarily by memberships and special
events.
